Meet Me.
Hi there— I’m Kayla Deanna Dungee!
In 2nd grade, I won the Excellence in Language Arts Award at the year’s closing ceremony (a prestigious honor, I know). My teacher told my mom that I would surely become a writer.
I'm unsure if I just hyper-fixated on that statement or if she was a fortune teller, but writing has been the cornerstone of my life ever since. I love storytelling, as evidenced by my two journalism degrees from Georgia State University (B.A.) and Boston University (M.S.).
Everyone has a story, and I long for the chance to share the stories of those who haven’t had the opportunity or courage to share the truths that have taken up space inside of them. Storytelling is liberating.
I’ve grown from strictly writing to adding graphic design to my toolkit, knowing that design is a vessel for storytelling.
I'm passionate about women’s rights, travel, Latin American studies, Black culture, music, animal welfare, equipping vulnerable populations, technology, and wellness.
